About the Conference

The Tamil Nadu Technology Development & Promotion Centre (TNTDPC) of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing a Conference on Cyber Security on 21 July 2017 at Hotel Hilton, Chennai.

Industry and Enterprises across the world are witnessing technology shifts and disruptions, the Internet of Things, use of digital platforms, online or digital payments, use of wearables, getting connected with smart grids, increasing penetration of robotic process automation on shop floor, Automation, use of AI and Machine learning, etc. are all causing drastic changes in Industry and enterprises.

The Cyber threat landscape of industrial information systems is becoming similar to the threat landscape of corporate IT systems. As per Kaspersky report of 2016, India was ranked 12th in the world in cyberattacks on industrial systems. Today, many different types of cyber attackers threaten organizations, from individuals working alone to highly organized, well-sponsored teams-for-hire capable of breaching the most sophisticated cybersecurity systems target personal, corporate or state secrets.

The Recent Wanna Cry Ransomware Attack by ransomware crypto worm, which targeted computers running. The Microsoft Windows operating system by encrypting data and demanding ransom payments in the Bitcoin crypto currency is another example of threats the organisations face. This attack was reported to have infected more than 230,000 computers in over 150 countries including India affecting all sectors of the economy.

The increased usage of social media at workplace is causing worries to the employers and the IT staff. As per some reports, the social media posts of employees attract cyber criminals to identify and target key individuals for a successful breach and hence employees form vital link in keeping the corporate data safe from cyber pirates.

Today, all enterprises of all sizes are at equal risks from Cyber Criminals. The threats are coming across geographic boundaries and the criminals are getting more innovative and are using cutting edge tools to target Individuals/Enterprises and Organizations. As the threats become more Sophisticated, Organizations /Corporates will need to invest in solutions that have the capabilities to deter the threats coming.
